Capital Project Phase 1
Capital Project Update
The Capital Project, Phase 1, is in full planning mode. Starting in late May the team of architects and construction management personnel have been meeting as part of the design phase. Each meeting has included “User Groups”, stakeholders having a special interest and/or use of the area under discussion.
Representative staff from each building will meet to review the designs and assist in planning for construction. These meetings will continue throughout the 2017-2018 school year in anticipation of submission to the New York State Education Department for approval prior to construction. We have been very thoughtful and forward thinking in this process. It is important to remember that we are designing learning spaces for the future, and that we only have one chance to do this right…and we are committed to doing it right for our students, families, staff, and community…well into the future.
The High School will be the first to undergo construction, anticipated to begin in May 2018. This work will include roofing and HVAC work, along with the reconstruction of the track and installation of the multi-purpose turf field. The Middle School and Elementary buildings will be under construction in late 2018/early 2019. For updates, be sure to check out this page on our website. In addition, formal reports will be provided to the Board of Education during the second meeting of the month (4th Tuesday of each month) during their regular business meeting. Information regarding the Board of Education meeting schedules and times can be located on the Board of Education page. Thank you again, for our community support of this project. It is an exciting time for our Gates Chili Central School District.
There will be regular updates during the design phase with construction as early as this spring. Let us know what you think or if you have questions. We always welcome feedback and strive to keep our schools and our community informed. Email us at Communications@gateschili.org
