Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year at Neil Armstrong School.
This school year opens in a way that is unlike any other. Not only are we beginning the school year with Hybrid and Remote Learning, but our A Wing is under construction and thus many practices have changed. These include student drop off and pick up (located in the back parking lot at designated times), visitor and volunteer practices and Main Entrance (Door #2).
For the most up to date information, please consult our district website updates at: ww.gateschili.org and be sure your email address is up to date and in our School Tool Parent Portal so you can receive information through our emailed Space Log Bulletins.
How can families get involved?
HYBRID Learner: Check your child's Take Home Folder & Agenda (for students in grades 4-5)
ALL: Use the SCHOOLOGY platform to see your child’s assignments!
ALL: Read the “Space Log Bulletins” sent via email.
ALL: Check Parent Portal for census information; attendance, progress reports, and laptop user agreement information. The website for this is gateschili.org/ParentPortalAccess.
ALL: Highlight and attend Neil Armstrong events (hopefully, we will have some this spring!)
ALL: Attend our Neil Armstrong Parent Teacher Organization (NAPTO) meetings (free!). These will be online through January 2021.
Ask your child’s teacher about signing up for Neil Armstrong social media:
Neil Armstrong is an inclusive, friendly and close-knit neighborhood school. Our community is strong. We are proud of our diversity. We are committed to enthusiastic and active promotion of our District’s Moral Imperative Statement. Our Spartan Way and our joint commitment to our children knit us closely together. We invite you to join us in our efforts to create a joyful place for children to learn about their community, their world and the world yet to come
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us by calling the main office or e-mailing us at email@example.com or firstname.lastname@example.org. Thank you very much for entrusting your child to our care.

Any families of students in grades K-12 requesting a change must complete the Enrollment Change Form to confirm their choice of learning model for the second semester. If you are not requesting a change of instruction model but do wish to make a change to your child’s transportation arrangements, please complete the form. If you do not need to make any changes, you do not need to complete the form.
COVID-19 positive data reported on this site includes students and staff in the district. These cases have been validated by Monroe County Health Department.
In the event of a move to the orange or red zones, the district must test 100% of in-person learners to be able to reopen to in-person instruction. Without this consent, we cannot test and therefore, would be required to remain fully remote if in the orange or red zones. We ask families to complete a consent form for each in-person learner in their household.
Gates Chili is one many districts in Monroe County, that must begin to randomly test 20% of all hybrid in-person staff and students in order to continue in-person instruction. We estimate the district will need to test approximately 500 staff and students each week while we are under the yellow zone designation.
Ambassadors will review the preliminary 2021-22 budget as developed by the administration within parameters established by the Board of Education, and recommend to the BOE any modifications they would like to see.
With face masks and costume masks galore, the annual event moved outdoors to the GCHS parking lot on Oct. 29. Dozens of seniors arrived as early as 6:15 a.m. to show off epic costumes for a costume contest, eat breakfast served on the Spartan Eats bus, stay warm by fire pits and make memories as a class. It was the first time this year they've been able to gather as a class.
