Academic Resources for Parents/Guardians

  • A component of a student’s success in school is dependent on what and how they learn at home.  Attached is a list of resources available to support your child in ELA, math, and science so they are prepared to meet the NYS standards in each of these areas.  Being able to meet or exceed the standards in middle school helps lead to increased success in high school as students earn credits towards graduation.

The resources contain sample questions from previous assessments in each area that you can practice with your student at home.

Additionally, NYS has created a Toolkit for Parents and Families  that is a collection of materials and resources that will help  families understand the New York State education reform initiatives and how the changes will help your student graduate from high school ready for college and careers ( http://engageny.org/parent-and-family-resources). I encourage  families to use these tools in conjunction with resources and information you receive from your student’s teachers.

If you have any questions about testing, please speak with your student's teacher, counselor, or assistant principal.
