• Dear Parents/Guardians,                                                                             June 2020

Research shows that for students to become life-long readers, they need to read.  Therefore, as English teachers, we believe that good reading habits need to be part of every student’s daily routine.  In working towards this goal, we are requiring that all students read a book of their choosing over the summer and complete one of three tasks to help capture their thoughts about the book. Students can utilize SORA, our school library’s online resource, which has thousands of eBooks and audiobooks across all genres and by diverse authors. All summer reading materials including links and tutorials for SORA can be found at https://libguides.monroe2boces.org/SummerReadingGCMS

The following library website offers book suggestions for teens:  https://bit.ly/2Lo3sBm Your student's summer reading task must be turned in by Friday, September 13th.

As an incentive, students who complete the project will receive a raffle ticket towards a prize.  Our principal, Dr. Buckshaw, will choose ten winning tickets for wonderful prizes.

There is no limit to how many books your child can read this summer, please use SORA and the public library to download books for free all summer long!

Thank you in advance for your support.

    Sincerely,

    Middle School English Teachers
