Research article written by Brasser students:
Mrs. Florence Brasser was born May 13, 1901 in Greece, New York and moved to Chili with her family when she was a child. She attended grade school in Chili and graduated from Roberts Wesleyan College. She started teaching in our school in the year 1923 when it was a one-room schoolhouse. She taught here for 38 years. When Mrs. Florence Brasser started teaching, she taught first grade. Then in the following years she began to teach third, fourth and fifth graders. In 1955, she was ready to retire, our school was renamed Florence Brasser. On February 3, 1956 they painted a portrait of her. The portrait was presented by Gail Rath, a member of the Student Council. The pupils of Florence Brasser paid tribute to her by hanging the portrait in our school. The painting is still hanging in the hallway of our school above the wooden bench. This dedicated teacher, who was described as shy, an animal lover, and a gardener, died April 4, 1992.
