The 2024 New York State SkillsUSA Leadership and Skills Championships took place at the New York State Fairgrounds in Syracuse, NY from April 26-28. Gates Chili Central School District was represented at the event by students who participate in Monroe 2-Orleans BOCES Career and Technical Education.

One Gates Chili student had a second-place finish in Syracuse. Digital and Visual Communication student Faith W. earned silver in Photography.

Gates Chili student TJ P. collaborated with Computer Technology peers to form a seven-member Opening and Closing Ceremonies team. The group earned a bronze medal for placing third in the competition.

BOCES 2 CTE students could also be found throughout the event as skilled workers including Gates Chili and Criminal Justice student Kayla W. who served as a contest helper.

In total, 25 BOCES 2 CTE students combined for 11 medals in the championship competitions including six first-place finishes.
