Rebecca Scott named next Neil Armstrong Elementary School Principal
Gates Chili Central School District is proud to announce Rebecca Scott as the next principal at Neil Armstrong Elementary School, pending Board of Education approval.
Mrs. Scott has been a Gates Chili Spartan since 2015, serving as assistant principal at Gates Chili Middle School and, most recently, at Florence Brasser Elementary School. A transition will begin immediately, with Mrs. Scott taking over officially on Monday, Dec. 20. Mrs. Scott takes over for Mrs. Elizabeth Konar, who has served as interim principal at Neil Armstrong Elementary School since August.
As part of the formal search process, there were more than 25 applicants. Each candidate interviewed with two committees comprised of Neil Armstrong teachers, staff and other district administrators. The district then hosted three finalists at Armstrong on Nov. 1-3 where the candidates visited classrooms and participated in a meet and greet event with staff and families.
During her time at Gates Chili, Mrs. Scott served as principal of the 2021 Arts Integration Summer Program, has led School Improvement Teams at the middle and elementary levels, and has been an advocate for growth in district-level equity committees. Prior to her time at Gates Chili, Mrs. Scott worked in a similar capacity at Joseph C. Wilson Magnet High School in Rochester. She holds two master's degrees in educational leadership and secondary education from St. John Fisher College and Nazareth College, respectively.
Thank you to the faculty, staff, administrators and community members who participated in this search process. We are excited about this next great chapter in Neil Armstrong’s history.
