GCHS students selected to attend TEDxRochester
Five students from Gates Chili High School were invited to attend the TEDxRochester at the Rochester Museum and Science Center on Tuesday.
With a theme of being bold and brilliant, the TEDx talk focused on female pioneers who are ‘making power moves, brilliant people who are just getting started, and those who tirelessly show up as allies and advocates.’
The event included a screening ‘of some of the most inspiring talks and daring discussions from TEDWomen 2019’ and focused on ‘empowering each other to shape a positive future.’
The organization selected GCCSD as part of an outreach effort to connect with younger females, working with Dr. Stacy Killings to invite five female students from her SAVVY club. The club focuses on women empowerment, while discussing social issues.
The young ladies represented Gates Chili High School and had the opportunity to network with movers and shakers in our community.
TED stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design. When an event is designated as a TEDx, it signifies an independently organized event. TEDxRochester brings together local speakers and organizations and is one of the inaugural TEDx events in the country.
Tuesday’s event had the largest attendance on record for the independently-run group.
