Veterans Day is an American holiday honoring military veterans. Veterans Day is intended to thank veterans for their service, to acknowledge that their contributions to United States national security are appreciated, and to underscore the fact that all those who served - not only those who died - have sacrificed and done their duty.
On Friday, Nov. 9, we had the wonderful opportunity to have a veteran visit our class and tell us about his service to our country. Mr. Wilbur Keller, Ellie's great-grandfather and a World War II veteran, enthralled the children with his stories and pictures from his service in the army. During his 4 1/2 years, he served first in the calvary and then on an army boat that traveled throughout the world during WWII.
Thank you to all the veterans who have served our country. Special thanks to Mr. Keller for coming to talk to us. We enjoyed meeting Mrs. Keller too!
