The purpose of a parent teacher conference is to give parents and teachers an opportunity to share valuable information about the child and the educational program. The goal or the focus of the conference will vary for each child because of differing values and educational priorities. Parents often have specific concerns, which may differ from the teacher's perceptions. In the parent-teacher conference, all issues can be shared and priorities can be established for the benefit of the child. Teachers and other school personnel welcome parental input and work conscientiously to provide an educational environment that accommodates the diversity of needs and abilities of the student and the values of their families. Before the parent-teacher conference (reminder attached), take some time to list (or at least think about) and prioritize your concerns or desires for your child's sevsnth or eighth grade year.
