Thank you for stopping by to visit our class web page! This site was developed as a resource and communication tool for my students, their families, and other teachers. A Sneak Peak at What's Ahead... Reading
We recently finished reading Jerry Spinelli's Stargirl. This realistic fiction novel takes us to Mica High where the free-spirited new student, Stargirl Caraway, changes everything---especially for the main character and narrator, Leo, who is drawn to her unique personality. This book has a lot of powerful messages for middle-schoolers and leads to great discussion. I think the students found that they could connect to the story in many ways. Students are currently working on a Stargirl culminating project selected from our choice board. I look forward to seeing all of the great connections to this wonderful novel in the work of my sixth graders. There will be a novel study skills assessment connected to the Stargirl on Friday, February, 3, 2012. Scholastic Book Order Due: Monday, January 30, 2012 Math At the beginning of February, students will have a Math Midterm Assessment, which will be a cummulative test of all of the material covered in our units of study in 6th grade. The midterm review guide is due Wednesday 2/1/12. After the midterm testing concludes, we will begin a unit focusing on Ratios and Proportional Relationships.
