A collection of heart and thumbs up icons, representing likes and positive feedback.In line with our commitment to maintaining a vibrant online presence, we are implementing a new registration protocol for social media accounts associated with their classes, programs, teams, or clubs.

  • This will help us streamline oversight and tracking of these accounts to make for a more coordinated and effective online representation of our district.
  • This process will aid in account retention to maintain continuity.
  • It allows us to provide ongoing training and resources to regular GC social media users.

If you have a GC-affiliated social media account under your purview, please register the account using the Gates Chili Social Media Account Registration Form. Complete one form per social media account.

  • Many staff members have social media accounts that do not represent their school or program but do represent them or their classrooms.

    If your account meets at least one of the following criteria, it must be registered with the Communications Office:

    • The account uses Gates Chili or GC in its name or handle
    • The account is connected to your @gateschili.org email address 
    • The account’s primary purpose is to promote your classroom, school or district program, club, team or activity 
    • The account could be passed onto another staff member as a legacy account if the main social media manager were to resign, retire or otherwise leave the district.

    The following types of accounts DO NOT need to be registered with the Communications Office:

    • Individual, professional accounts used for professional networking, collaboration
    • Personal social media accounts

    If you are unsure, have questions, or need to pass on ownership of a social media account, please email the Communications Office directly or call (585) 247-5050 ext. 12214. 

  • By registering your social media account, you're contributing to the overall strategy of our district's communication efforts.This process will aid in account retention even after staff members retire or move on to new opportunities. It's an essential measure to maintain continuity and preserve the valuable content and connections you've established throughout your tenure. This process also allows us to communicate with or provide important training and updates to regular GC social media users. 

    Maximizing the Impact of Social Media
    Social media is a powerful tool that allows us to share stories, showcase achievements, and connect with our community in meaningful ways. We acknowledge that maintaining an active social media presence can be demanding but regular updates and engagement are crucial to keeping your audience engaged and informed.

    If you have a social media account associated with your class, program, team or club that has become dormant or inactive, we kindly ask that you consider deactivating it to prevent any confusion among your followers.

    Additionally, if you have a social media account associated with your class, program, team, or club that you are struggling to maintain, please consider deactivating it. 

    Sharing Great News: Opportunities for All
    We understand that not everyone can manage a social media account, but we still want to celebrate the many remarkable moments within our district. If you come across noteworthy news, achievements, or stories that deserve attention, we invite you to share them with us by emailing them to communications@gateschili.org. We can consider these for district-level social media posts and other highlight opportunities, ensuring that every success story gets the recognition it deserves.

  • Before seeking approval from the Communications Office, please discuss your plans for the social media account with your school principal or department supervisor. 

    After getting approval from your school principal or department administrator, please complete the Gates Chili Social Media Account Registration Form. Please complete one form for each account you manage or intend to manage.

    We consider the following in granting the privilege to establish a social media account will include: 

    • Purpose must be educational or promote Gates Chili programs, schools or departments. 
    • Approval must be obtained from the school principal or program/project director prior to seeking approval from Communications. 
    • A school or district administrator must be assigned to monitor the social media account to ensure the content is appropriate and the account is kept up to date with fresh content. 
    • Postings to the account must follow all Gates Chili social media and electronic resource policies and guidelines.
