GATES CHILI SCHOOL DISTRICT
From the Superintendent...

|
It’s amazing how quickly the first the two months of the school year have flown by! This time of year means that our first-quarter middle and high school report cards will be coming home very soon, and at the elementary level individual parent conferences have now begun.
As our buildings take time to reflect on their individual goals progress, let’s also consider one of this year’s primary District goal to promote a “Culture of Partnership” with our community and schools. As a District, we seek to build connections where all of our students, families, staff and community are working together to support our children. While it seems a simple connection for our parents who have students in school, we continue to encourage their active participation and support. Research reinforces the evidence that when adults are actively involved in a child’s education, students have a higher rate of achievement. Each of our buildings have active Parent Teacher Organizations and we thank you for your involvement and volunteering at each level K-12.
For those of you without children in school, this poses a different connection to our District and we appreciate your support and involvement. Our website www.gateschili.org is full of upcoming activities and community based events held at our schools. We are a resource for community education programs, adult literacy and a venue for many Town of Gates and Chili community events. Our state-of-the-art Field House contains a pool, fitness center and track that are open to community residents on a daily basis. Again, check our website under the Quick Links to see the specifics. Superintendent/Community Forums have been scheduled as an opportunity to meet and ask questions about our District and share your community perceptions. The Towns of Gates and Chili supervisors have graciously offered use of their town halls for these meetings. Forums are scheduled for Monday, November 30th at 7 p.m., in the Gates Town Hall; and on Tuesday, December 1st at the Chili Town Hall, at 7 pm. All community residents are welcome at any of the sessions. Additionally, arrangements for Senior Citizen Forums are scheduled on December 7 at 11 a.m., at the Chili Senior Center; and we are in the process of finalizing plans for the Gates Senior Forum. We open our doors for your attendance to quality school productions, music and athletic events where you can witness “Spartan Pride” in action. Students present their best efforts in all venues based on our high expectations.
Please join us at the Community Forums where we’ll have the opportunity to meet personally to discuss our school district and its direction for the future.
