Transportation

Bids for the construction of a new transportation facility came in over budget. This part of the project was postponed and will be reevaluated at the back end of the Phase IX project schedule.

The information below was part of the original proposal:
If Phase IX is approved by voters, a new transportation facility will be constructed on 22 acres of District property south of the Neil Armstrong school. The new transportation facility will be in a wooded area and not in open view.

Facts about the transportation facility:

  • Current work bays are too narrow and short to work safely on large buses.
  • The current facility does not have enough space for proper storage of parts and tires.
  • The new facility will include a bus wash bay to allow for cleaning of buses on a regular basis. Currently, buses are washed in a repair bay with a hose during cold weather.

Note: The current transportation facility will be converted to plumbing, electrical, and carpentry shops. District plows, trucks, and mowing equipment will also be serviced and stored in the building.
