Tier 2 and Tier 3
Pathways to Tier 2 and Tier 3 supports
To best support all students and ensure that we proactively respond to their individual needs, the Gates Chili Central School District is developing a districtwide approach to tiered interventions and supports.
Students can enter MTSS Tier 2 or Tier 3 supports in two ways:
- Score-based entry
- Students are identified through universal screening data, common assessments or other district benchmark measures.
- Predetermined cut scores help flag students who are below expectations and may require additional support.
- Referral-based entry
- Students may also be referred by teachers, student support staff or administrators when academic, behavioral social-emotional, or attendance concerns arise that may not be fully captured by assessment data.
- Ensures that students with complex or urgent needs are promptly addressed, even if they do not meet cut score thresholds.
A growing and evolving process
Gates Chili’s MTSS framework is an evolving system that will grow and adapt over time. As we expand our use of data, refine our systems and strengthen our practices, we will adjust to ensure that our support is responsive to the needs of our students, staff and families. This ongoing reflection and improvement process is essential to fulfilling our commitment to helping all students succeed.
